Daylight saving time is set to begin at 2 a.m. on March 10, 2024, marking the second Sunday of March. As we move the clocks forward, the mornings will stay dark a little longer than usual, but this also means that daylight will stretch an hour further into the afternoon and evening.

The concept of daylight saving time has a rich history in the United States. It was first introduced in 1918 but was repealed and reinstated multiple times over the years. The practice gained popularity during World War I and World War II as a means to conserve energy. Eventually, the Uniform Time Act was passed to standardize the practice across most of the country.

In today’s digital age, technology has made adjusting to the time change effortless. Smartphones and watches will automatically update to the new time. However, if you have analog watches, appliances, or traditional clocks in your home, you’ll need to manually adjust them.

This Sunday, most of the country will “spring forward” into daylight saving time, where we set our clocks forward by one hour. This change allows for longer evenings and takes advantage of the natural daylight during the warmer months.

Remember to set your clocks forward and enjoy the extra hour of daylight in the evenings. Embrace the time change and make the most of the extended daylight as we transition into the spring season.
